OUR LOCATION

Situated in the centre of the authentic and historic Irish village, Brannens of Newport is ideally located at the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way, the Great Western Greenway and the Western Way. The town is also the gateway to Ballycroy National Park, the only accredited Gold Tier International Dark Park in Ireland. 

Home to the Nephin Beggers Walking group, Brannens of Newport offers free advice to those interested in the local walking and hiking trails - including the Bangor Trail, the Western Way and the Derrada Loop Walks.

HOW TO GET HERE

11km from Wesport, 19km from Castlebar and 30km from Achill Island.

From Dublin via Castlebar: 

- Take the N4 and continue on M4, following signs for Sligo/Westport/N5/N6. 

- Keep right at the fork to stay on M4, follow signs for Sligo/Westport/Mullingar/N5. 

- Continue onto N4 until Longford. 

- Follow signs for N5 to Castlebar/Westport. 

- In Castlebar take the ring road following the signs through the first two roundabouts for Westport. On the third roundabout follow the signs for Newport/Town Centre. Then go straight through the next two roundabouts following the signs for Newport. 

- At the traffic lights turn left onto Newport Rd/R311. 

- Continue to follow R311. 

-- In Newport at the first junction, turn right onto Main St/N59.

-  Brannens is half way along the street on your left hand side.

We know that not all of you will be driving. So, here are some ways to get from your location to Newport.

DUBLIN AIRPORT

For those arriving to Dublin Airport and trying to make there way to Newport, there are several options.

The Train:

You may choose to get the train from Dublin to Mayo. To do this, you'll take a bus (number 782) or taxi to Hueston Station. From there, you'll get the train from Hueston Station to Castlebar, or Westport. From there, you can arrange a collection with us from the train station. 

The Bus:

You may choose to get the bus from Dublin Airport to Mayo. The best option here is Expressway. The trip is about 3hrs and 50 minutes to Ballina, Co. Mayo. Here we will arrange a collection for you from Ballina if you wish.

Taxi Collection:

If you arrive with a group and prefer to get a direct route to Brannens. Get in touch with us and we can arrange a taxi to collect you. 

You will have the option to rent a car at the airport if you wish. See the airport website for more details.

SHANNON AIRPORT

For those arriving to Shannon Airport and travelling up to Newport, here are the main methods.

The Bus:

In terms of public transport, the most direct option from Shannon Airport to Newport is the bus. There is no direct bus from Shannon Airport to Newport, however, you can travel from Shannon to Galway, then Galway to Castlebar or Westport. For bus routes and timetables, visit the Bus Eireann website. Once you arrive in Castlebar or Westport, you can arrange a collection with us.

Taxi Collection:

You may prefer to get a direct taxi from Shannon Airport for you, your family, or your group. If so, please get in touch with us. We're more than happy to help you organise your travel to Newport and will aim to make it as seamless and quick as possible.
