ABOUT BRANNENS OF NEWPORT

Renowned as a traditional Irish bar in the centre of the picturesque heritage town of Newport, Brannens was originally built in the 1720's. In 2015 the family embarked on a total renovation; refurbishing the bar & lounge, added a boutique style accommodation adjacent to their home on the first and second floor and a large function room downstairs.

They also restored the stone façade at the front of the premises and parts of the interior of the building still date back to the old building. Any original stonework that was knocked during the renovations was reused in building the new function room and outdoor terrace area to the rear of the premises.

WHAT OUR GUESTS ARE SAYING

Stayed here to take part in a local walking festival.perfect place to stay as John the owner has a wealth of knowledge about hiking and has expert first hand knowledge of local hills. As well as providing an excellent breakfast, ask for the boxty and home made granola. The bedroom was modern, immaculately clean and spacious. Beds were so comfortable with "sink in" pillows.lovely tea and biscuits provided.we were delighted to return here in the evening after a long lovely day on the hills. Oh and they also have a "wet room" to dry out all the wet gear.
